How to Create Coaching Magic: Be a BEING of Love

Welcome to the first blog in our five-part series exploring the essence of coaching that feels magical. This series will dive deep into the transformative power of love in coaching. Today, we’ll begin by uncovering how love is not just a feeling but a state of being; a foundation for impactful coaching.

The State of Love: A Personal Story 💚

Let’s start with a story. Do you remember your first experience of being in love? For me, it was junior high. I had a crush on a boy, and he liked me back. We barely spoke, but my heart felt alive—joyful, hopeful, and full of possibilities. In that moment, nothing else seemed as important as this new connection.

But as quickly as it came, the glow faded. Life crept back in—assignments due, friendships neglected—and I’ve now realized as an adult that love isn’t just about romance; it was and is, about presence and energy. This realization mirrors what great coaching feels like: being fully present, connected, and in a state of love.

Coaching Through Love

Great coaching isn’t about rigid frameworks or checklists—it’s about being. At its core, coaching is about embodying love: love for your client’s potential, their growth, and their journey. This isn’t romantic love like I felt in junior high, but what Barbara Fredrickson describes in her book Love 2.0—a micro-moment of positivity resonance that connects us to others and ourselves.

When we coach from a state of love, we create an environment where transformation can happen. It’s not about fixing problems but helping clients see their own brilliance and possibilities.

How to Tap Into the State of Love

Here are three ways to cultivate this state before and during your coaching sessions:

  1. Start with Gratitude

Before your session, take a moment to reflect on what you’re grateful for—the people you love, the things that bring you joy. Hold these thoughts in your heart for 30 seconds or more to shift into a loving energy.

  1. ”Loose” Your Mind

Let go of mental clutter by visualizing yourself placing heavy thoughts on a shelf or in a bag to revisit later. This practice helps you drop into your heart space and stay fully present with your client.

  1. Celebrate Progress

Acknowledge your client’s wins—big or small. Highlight their growth and encourage their unfolding potential. This keeps both you and your client anchored in positivity and possibility.

The Magic of Being

At its best, coaching is not about doing but being. When we show up as beings of love, we create magic—helping clients reconnect with their own awesomeness while staying grounded in our own authenticity.

In the next blogs, we’ll explore how curiosity, listening, and inquiring play into this magical state of coaching. Until then, practice stepping into love—not just for others but for yourself too. Because when you embody love, you unlock the true potential of coaching magic. ✨
